Marcel van Wing

After Marcel had completed his studies at the Business School of Marketing in Rotterdam, he started his career at Ara, then one of the two large BBDO agencies in the Netherlands. He completed the international management programme there and became account director in 1990. He emigrated to Indonesia in 1992 to head up the account department of BBDO Jakarta. In 1995 he left Indonesia to work for J. Walter Thompson as Worldwide CSD in Colombo and Singapore, before returning to the Netherlands in 1996. He continued to work freelance in advertising but also founded a boat-building company that specialised in classical wooden punts. In 1998 he was asked by Lintas to become their managing partner. He sold his boat business and focused entirely on managing Lintas, the merger with Lowe, Kuiper en Schouten and subsequently Lowe International, where he was responsible for all international campaigns out of Amsterdam as managing director. In 2005 he became interim general manager of McCann Amsterdam. He reorganised that agency and left at the end of 2006 with the intention of starting a new business. Since February 2007, Marcel has been co-founder, general manager and partner of Alfred International. Marcel is 46 years old.
